at Commonwork Farm, in Kent

We are pleased to announce details of our annual Ongoing Training for Teachers weekend at our homely training venue Commonwork Farm in Kent, UK.

This year we will enojy teachings from two Yoga Academy faculty members – Gary Carter and Gill Lloyd – alongside Yoga Academy Principal Simon Low

Gary CarterGary Carter will be leading workshops on Friday under the theme of The Bearable Lightness of Being Inverted. Gary will be looking at safety in inverted postures, focusing on tensegrity within the spine and how to create lightness from the ground up – both key elements of safely performing inverted postures.

Gill LloydGill Lloyd will be with us on Saturday sharing sessions on Vedic Chanting. This is what Gill would like to tell you about her day: "Vedic Chanting keeps us in touch with the very origins of Yoga and how it was handed down through the generations. It has many purposes but one of the main things for me is that it is something we can do and share together, fostering friendship and harmony. It has a role in study and deepening knowledge and can link us to aspects of the universe that offer nourishment and support. It plays a huge role in the process of healing both from the healing vibrations of certain chants and through using chants for general or specific health needs. In the sessions at this weekend, I will offer examples of these ideas through experiential sessions."

Simon LowSimon Low will teach the led classes on all three mornings and a Restorative Yoga class on Saturday evening with a focus on breath. The two study sessions on Sunday will be devoted toward exploring practical teachings for the sharing of therapeutic asana and somatic awareness. As always, participants are also encouraged to send pertinent questions in advance about any issues relating to the subject matter or the teaching of yoga that they would like to have addressed among a group of fellow teachers.
