This one day workshop is especially relevant for yoga teachers, trainees and advanced students wishing to take the knowledge gained from Julie’s weekend workshop to a deeper level, learning how to apply it to teaching and practice in a therapeutic context. As a licensed physical therapist and yoga teacher for over 30 years, with a strong emphasis on working with athletes and physically active patients, Julie is uniquely qualified in this field. She brings her immense interest and experience into her classes with joy and enthusiasm, while many past students have commented that her overall teaching methodology is a great learning experience in itself.
Areas covered will include
| • | RSI; |
| • | Frozen shoulder and other shoulder ailments and injuries; |
| • | Various neck conditions; |
| • | Kyphosis. |
Julie will also make time for conditions presented for discussion by students. Alongside Julie’s widely recognised practical and visual teaching approach, she will also guide students through sessions of appropriate asana, with a special emphasis on backbends and inversions, offering a challenging and effective physical practice to augment the theory.

About Julie Gudmestad

Julie Gudmestad has been active in Portland, Oregon, as a yoga teacher and licensed physical therapist for over 30 years. She has integrated Western medical knowledge with yoga training into a unique teaching style, and has taught workshops in Europe, Canada and throughout the U.S. She is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, and is the author of the Yoga Journal column “Anatomy of a Yogi”.
Julie presents her teachings in a very clear and accessible manner. You will learn materials and skills that will be highly user friendly in both teaching and practice. Julie addresses areas of the anatomy which are common areas of injury, acute and chronic pain and poor postural awareness, and shares knowledge and guidance to help you become more aware and skilled in the effective teaching and practice of yoga in a therapeutic context.
