50-hour Ongoing Teacher Training and study immersion focusing on inversions and backbends from the ground up!
at Santillán, Spain
5 – 12 November 2017

with Gary Carter and Simon Low

By popular demand Gary Carter and Simon Low are offering another week-long residential ongoing teacher training and study immersion at Santillán, Spain on 5-12 November, 2017. This immersion with Gary and Simon will give you 50 hours of continuing professional development, which can also be collected towards The Yoga Academy’s 500-hour certification.

Our study and practice for this training will be a focus on pivotal inversions and backbends, working from the ground up. We will explore the anatomical implications and learn approaches to utilise and develop backbends and inversions safely and effectively, drawing on teachings from a diverse range of approaches that reflect the wide knowledge of both teachers.

Simon and Gary will share class teaching and practical sessions, balanced with projections, palpation, and lecture (with Gary’s full tool-kit). Options will offered incorporating The Great Yoga Wall, and the extensive range of props available at Santillán.

ToolkitWe will as always be looking at the musculo-skeletal system in the light of the radical rethinking currently under way in the understanding of functional anatomy, essentially stemming from ongoing research into the nature of fascia and the neurology of movement.

Gary CarterGary will be leading lecture and asana practice sessions on Tuesday–Thursday. Gary is at the cutting edge of the latest research into the architecture of human movement function and the neurology of movement and recently presented at the British Fascia Symposium in June. Gary teaches in the style of Sacaravelli inspired yoga and will guide students to experience and understand tensional forces within the human musculo-skeletal structure and their implications to effortless and elastic movement.

Simon LowSimon will be leading the led classes in the morning with Gary, as well as the lecture and asana practice sessions all day on Friday–Sunday. Practicing yoga asana at the wall with the integrated yoga-belt and pelvic sling system awakens our sensory awareness system to the fine nuances of yoga asana through refined alignment and relationship with gravity. There will also be Yin and Restorative Yoga and break-down of some Yang style asana.

Our schedule on the training days will be as follows:

10.00–11.30am Brunch
