Yin and Restorative Yoga Study Intensive
Friday 2nd November to Sunday 4th November 2012
at Commonwork Farm, in Kent
![]() |
An immersion into the theory, practice and potential of Yin, Yang, and Restorative yoga for teachers, trainees and all students of yoga.
This weekend will include four practices of 2–3 hours each, and a series of study sessions to deepen our understanding of the preparation, positioning, precision of alignment, use of props, incorporation of pranayama and the many meditative practices that are appropriate and effective within this broad and rich approach to yoga. We will be focusing on three essential sequences: one very restorative, one with pranayama as emphasis within the practice and one more classical yin yoga. You will receive a fully illustrated handout with very detailed instructions for entry, exit and points of attention within the postures. While the led practices will focus on Yin and Restorative Yoga, there will be a balancing practice of Yang fluid movement taught within the morning sessions.
Simon views Restorative yoga as a yin practice, but recognises & respects that many understand the term Yin yoga in a different context.
At this weekend Simon will clarify and present Yin Yoga in the wider context, being a practice ‘inclusive’ of restorative and other more gentle movement featured practices.
Please bring a minimum of one bolster (two is even better - if you are driving), 5 foam blocks, a blanket, a towel, an eye bag, yoga strap, and a wooden block. There will be certain props available to use at Commonwork Farm, but we like to reserve these for overseas students and those unable to carry the required quota.
